Registration guidelines for Amazon.sg account

This page provides guidance on the required documents for account registration & Seller Identity Verification (SIV) and the step-by-step process for you.

Account Registration Process

Step 1: Welcome to account creation
  • Enter your name in English under “Your name”.
  • Enter your email address under "Email" for the account. It will become the login ID for the seller account
  • Enter the password you want to use when logging into the account. Re-enter at the bottom once more
  • Click on the Create your Amazon account button to proceed
Step 2: Verify your email address
  • Enter the OTP sent to the email adress you have entered in the previous step
  • Click on the Verify button to proceed
Step 3: Set up your Amazon selling account
  • The following information should be prepared in advance when you set up your Amazon selling account:
  • Business name & address
  • Mobile or telephone number
  • Chargeable credit card and valid bank account
  • If you are registering as an individual seller, enter your full name. If you are registering as a business, enter the business registered name and full name (e.g. Seller Inc - John Smith)
Step 4: Enter the PIN sent to you via SMS/Call
  • You should receive a call/SMS within a few minutes on the phone number you entered.
  • Type in the 6 digit PIN that you have recieved for the phone number verification.
  • Once verification is successfully completed, the Next button at the screen will be activated. Click the Next button to proceed.
Step 5: Set up your billing method
  • Enter your credit card number and validity period. Type the Cardholders' name in English.
  • Fill in the credit card billing address in English. If the billing address is the same as the business address, you can use the address you originally entered. If the billing address and business address are different, select "Add a new address" option to enter a new address.
  • Click on the Next button to proceed
Step 6: Tell us about your products
  • Based on the seller's responses to the questions, Amazon customises the information or guidance that the seller needs. Therefore, it is advisable to provide the most accurate information.
  • If the products to sell is not confirmed yet, click the Skip button to decide later. You can also add categories that were not listed.
Step 7: Tell us about your product categories
  • Select your product categories you want to sell. You may select one of more categories. When selected, click the Finish button at the bottom of the page to complete the registration process.

Step 8: Identity Verification

Required documents for Seller's Identity Verification

1) Passport / Driver's License
  • Must be a government-issued identity card that is distributed and recognized by the country where you are a citizen or resident
  • The full name on the national ID should match the full name on your registered Amazon account.
  • Scan the original document in color or take a picture using your mobile device. Do not submit a screenshot. Black and white copies are not accepted.
  • Copies should be legible. The document image must be high quality, colored and unobstructed. The image must show a full document page or in case of national ID, both sides of the card.
  • For multi-page files (for example: both sides of the ID card), please merge the separate documents or images into one file for uploading to Seller Central
  • The document should not be expired.
  • The date of birth in the national ID should match the date of birth provided during the Amazon seller account registration process
  • Your identity document must be in one of the following languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, or Spanish. If it is not in one of these languages, provide a copy of your passport or a notarized translation of your document in one of these languages.
  • If you submit a copy of your passport, please ensure that the passport has the bearer’s signature.
  • Document should be less than 10MB in size.
  • Accepted formats are *.png, *.tiff, *.tif, *.jpg, *.jpeg, and *.pdf. Do not include special characters in the file name (Examples: $, &, #).
  • Companies/Corporations need to submit a government issued national ID for the primary contact or beneficial owner.
2) Bank statements / Credit card statements
  • The name of the point of contact or company mentioned on the statement should either match the point of contact name or business name provided during registration.
  • You can hide the currency amount, but the document must remain intact and other information clearly visible.
  • Scan the original document in color or take a picture using your mobile device. Do not submit a screenshot.
  • Document should be easily readable and must have been issued within the past 90 days. Documents must not be password protected
  • Please do not provide a photo of your credit card or debit card.
  • Your document must be in one of the following languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, or Spanish. If it is not in one of these languages, provide a notarized translation of your document into one of these supported languages.
  • Document should be less than 10MB in size.
  • Accepted formats are *.png, *.tiff, *.tif, *.jpg, *.jpeg, and *.pdf. Do not include special characters in the file name (Examples: $, &, #).
Step 8 (Option 1): Registration as a sole owner
Select the country where your business is based. Click “Next”. (*Please note that information on this page cannot be changed after submission; so, please enter the information carefully).
Enter the following information accurately and click “Submit”.
Upload scanned copy of your identity document (Passport etc.) and bank statement or credit card statement. Ensure the document meets the uploading instructions and click “Submit”.
If the necessary documents and information are validated, the following will appear. If the message shows ‘Thank you for your request’, you can close the tab on your browser. Otherwise, ensure that all information and documents are submitted accurately. Documents submitted have to be in the given format mentioned in uploading instructions.
Step 8 (Option 2): Registration as a company seller (Based in China only)
Select the country where your business is based and select if you are register as a sole owner or as a company seller. Click “Next”. (*Please note that information on this page cannot be changed after submission; so, please enter the information carefully).
Enter the following information accurately and click “Submit”.
Upload scanned copy of your identity document (Passport etc.) and your business license. Ensure the document meets the uploading instructions and click “Submit”.
If the necessary documents and information are validated, the following will appear. If the message shows ‘Thank you for your request’, you can close the tab on your browser. Otherwise, ensure that all information and documents are submitted accurately. Documents submitted have to be in the given format mentioned in uploading instructions.
With a successful submission, Amazon will review your request and may reach out further for further clarification if needed within 2 business days.
Step 9: Additional documents (if applicable)
You may be asked for the following additional documents by Amazon Seller Performance Review team. Please follow the requirements for utility bills, and submit the documents via Seller Central.
1) Utility bill with name and address visible
  • Name and address should match with the name and address provided during account registration. If the utility bill for the given address is not under your name, please provide a utility bill associated to the address provided in Seller Central and any other supporting documents that prove you are operating from that address, even if the bill is not under your name.
  • The utility bill could be a water, electricity, gas, internet or telecom bill issued by the utility company. The bill must be issued within the last 90 days.
2) Business license, if applicable
3) If you have active listings, include copies of invoices, receipts, contracts or delivery orders from your supplier issued in the last 90 days.
You can send files in .pdf, .png, or .gif format. These documents must be authentic and unaltered. You may remove pricing information, but the rest of the document must be visible.
Throughout your Seller Identification Verification process, do use the ‘Get support’ button at the bottom of the page to get support regarding any questions or issues related to Seller Identity Verification.
Fee waiver for professional selling account till 31 March 2020*
*Subscription Fee Promotion Terms and Conditions: Offer only applies to new sellers who register before 31 March 2020. Upon registration, you will be charged a small amount to verify your charge method. You will then have your monthly subscription fee waived till 31 March 2020. From 1 April 2020 onwards, your subscription fees will be S$29.95 per month. Please note that other selling fees apply when you sell your products on Amazon Singapore.
